Their annual Marathon of one-act plays has made Ensemble Studio Theater one of the most important showcases for one-acts in the country. We have taken our selection from four Marathon evenings:
VERMONT SKETCHES by David Mamet. These plays prove once again, as with GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS and AMERICAN BUFFALO, that Pulitzer Prize winning Mamet is a major poet of American vernacular.
ARIEL BRIGHT by Katharine Long. A romantic fantasy set in the past in a funeral parlor in Grayson MO.
"Miss Long follows her two characters on an endearing flight of fancy—the play is both a love story and a fantasy."
Mel Gussow, The New York Times.
1 M, 1 FSAXOPHONE MUSIC by Bill Bozzone
"...a wistful, worm-turns comedy about the underclass."
