Y York is a 1994 graduate of New Dramatists and recipient of N D's Joe Callaway Award. Y's plays have received support from the King County, Seattle Arts Commissions, and Artists' Trust. She received a 1997 Berrilla Kerr Playwrighting Award and is a member of the Dramatists' Guild. In addition to writing plays, Y was an occasional writer for Little Bear, an animated character on the Nick Jr. channel, and for Videodiscovery, a producer of interactive media. Her plays are produced with something approaching regularity at adult and family theatres across the country. Family plays include: AFTERNOON OF THE ELVES; THE GARDEN OF RIKKI TIKKI TAVI; ACCIDENTAL FRIENDS; THE PORTRAIT THE WIND THE CHAIR; FROG AND TOAD (FOREVER); THE WITCH OF BLACKBIRD POND; THE LAST PAVING STONE, and MASK OF THE UNICORN WARRIOR. Adult plays include: AMERICAN 60S IN THREE AX; THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH; IT COMES AROUND; KRISIT; LIFE GAP; RAIN. SOME FISH. NO ELEPHANTS.; THE PRINCESS INSIDE VERSUS THE NEW DARK CLARITY; and TOAST AND JAM. Y lives with Mark Lutwak, to whom most things are dedicated.
